I agree, it should have been subject to a full-scale safety recall. The aluminium bolt corrosion issue first emerged in Canada. Three aluminium retaining bolts securing the power steering motor to the steering rack are corroding and fracturing, causing the power steering motor to fall off the rack and resulting in a sudden loss of steering with no prior warning to alert the driver. The affected vehicles are the Range Rover Evoque L538 (2011-2017) and the Land Rover Discovery Sport L550 (2015-2017).
The defect resulted in recalls on these vehicles in Canada, but not the UK.
I would like to draw attention to a manufacturing defect present in some Jaguar Land Rover vehicles, over which the manufacturer is ignoring requests for remedial action.
